Michael and Geoffrey were named after Ray Romano's real-life twins, Matthew and Gregory. In the pilot episode, Michael and Geoffrey were called Matthew and Gregory and they were played by Justin Ferreira and Drew Ferreira rather than Sullivan Sweeten and Sawyer Sweeten who played the twins later.
In real life, Romano is not one of two children. He has two brothers, Robert and Richard Romano.

When Romano got his big raise they were still making just $160,000 per episode, so the rest of the cast walked off the show. Led by Garrett, they essentially organized a strike. It worked.
